About

I am the Founding and Senior Pastor at Church in the Word, in Elgin, Illinois, and an international evangelist. Church in the Word is a Spirit-filled, multi-ethnic congregation that meets each weekend for worship, the Word of God, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

In almost 20 years of ministry on four continents, I have noticed that many local churches and ministries heavily emphasize the Word of God or the work of the Holy Spirit. The early Church had a powerful balance of both, and it’s my conviction that the Western Church in the last days needs to return to that balance.

Biography

I was born and grew up in Waterford, Ireland. By the time Jesus Christ encountered me as a young man, I was involved in gang activity and aspiring to be the biggest drug dealer in Waterford.

My life changed forever when I surrendered to Christ as a Full Gospel Business Men’s meeting in Waterford, experienced the power of the Holy Spirit, and met the Lord Jesus Christ. I was instantly delivered from my addictions, and found a mentor in a powerful man of God in the group.

When I was later released to my own ministry, I traveled Europe as an evangelist, and eventually felt the Lord’s call to the United States as a missionary. At a local church in Wisconsin, I met a beautiful worship leader who would become my wife and fellow church-planter.

In 2000, Tami and I, with our one-year-old son, founded Church in the Word in the northwest Chicagoland suburbs. Since then, the church has found a home in four locations as we continue to grow, and I have taken small teams of leaders with me to minister to thousands in India, Nigeria and Nepal.

Tami and I now have four wonderful children, and live in Cary, Illinois. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my kids, reading history, and playing racquetball.
